Youngbrook Recruitment was founded on a simple belief: recruitment should be reliable, personal, and genuinely aligned with the needs of both businesses and candidates. Since 2007, that belief has shaped long-term partnerships across Queensland and Australia and underpins every placement we make.
Our story reflects resilience, adaptability, and a continued commitment to raising the standard of recruitment through thoughtful relationships, honest advice, and outcomes that last.
Where It Started
In 2007, our Founder and Managing Director, Simone Young, reached a turning point in her career.
After gaining experience across start-ups, boutique agencies and global firms, she realised none reflected the approach she believed recruitment required. It needed to be grounded in professionalism, candour and genuine care.
Three job offers later, and uninspired by every one of them, the decision became clear: build the recruitment agency she wished existed.
A piece of advice from her parents sealed the moment:
It doesn’t matter if you make mistakes. It means you’re doing something. And if it doesn’t work out, you’re young enough to rebuild.
Youngbrook Recruitment was born from that philosophy: courage, integrity and a deep respect for the people behind every job and every business.
The Early Years and a Defining Pivot
In the beginning, Youngbrook focused solely on permanent recruitment. Demand grew fast, driven by Simone’s reputation for delivering quality candidates and building strong client relationships.
The business achieved ISO 9001 quality certification early on. Another signal of our commitment to structure, accountability and excellence. Then the GFC arrived.
Permanent recruitment paused across the country. Businesses entered hiring freezes, headcount rationalisation and uncertainty. But instead of standing still, Youngbrook adapted.
A client request for “someone for just one day” sparked a turning point. That single placement led to the expansion of our services into temporary staffing, labour hire and contract recruitment. This model has remained core to our business ever since.
This pivot didn’t just help us survive the downturn. It created a new foundation for sustainable growth.
